Using recent image development technology from artificial intelligence, Camilo de la Torre produced a series that responds to the terrorism exerted by banana multinationals in the Colombian Urabá region. The resulting images differ in quality. In one of them, the algorithm generated a portrait of an armed person, with the face covered by a balaclava and wearing a yellow hat. The person carries a gun and wears yellow with some elements that refer to the Colombian flag. This is not a photograph, and certain distortions reveal the artificial construction of the image. In other images, the artificiality is even more apparent. The digital quality of the image is noticeable: faces are distorted, and elongated and distorted bananas appear as weapons. Ultimately, these images result from a series of instructions given by De la Torre to a computer that is in the process of learning how to construct them, but they are equally uncomfortable and intimidating.
